| GovernanceUnited Way NZ (UWNZ) is a registered Incorporated Society and has charitable status.It operates with a Board of Directors to whom the Chief Executive reports. Management And SupportTwo administrators and a Business Development Manager support the Chief Executive.In order to maximise the distribution of grants, retain low overheads and ensure that appropriate checks and balances are in place, a NZ-wide network of local volunteers are responsible for visiting organisations who have submitted grant applications to UWNZ. These volunteers then assess, evaluate and report on all applications. Finally, they forward a recommendation to the Chief Executive and Board of Directors as to whether, in their opinion, a local charity should receive a financial grant from UWNZ or not. Our People

Don Oliver, Chief Executive of UWNZ
| About The Chief ExecutiveDon Oliver became Chief Executive of UWNZ on 04 August 2003. Prior to this he held a number of high profile senior positions in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom within a large international not-for-profit organisation.Don has substantial experience in leadership, public speaking, project management, fundraising, marketing, sales, the third sector, volunteerism and corporate social responsibility. He is also a Justice of the Peace for New Zealand, a Celebrant, a Member of the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce, the American Chamber of Commerce and the Fund Raising Institute of New Zealand.
