| Over $230,000 goes to helping the
helpers
Project K North Shore was just one of 75 local Auckland charities
to benefit from United Way NZ funding at last week’s annual
cheque presentation ceremony.
A total of $230,000 was handed out at the function, which was hosted
by Auckland City Mayor Dick Hubbard and held at the Auckland Town
Hall on Wednesday. Local charities, United Way NZ volunteers, Auckland
City councillors and the business community were also present.
CEO for United Way NZ, Don Oliver said that he wanted to thank
the volunteers for ensuring that the donations are being distributed
to groups who provide essential human care in the Auckland area.
“The support shown by the business community through payroll
giving and corporate partnerships really cements United Way NZ’s
role as New Zealand’s local charity,” he added.
UWNZ provides funding for small to medium human welfare charities
throughout New Zealand and cheque presentation ceremonies will be
held in nine other regions throughout New Zealand during July.
