VOLUNTEERS ARE WONDERFUL
The backbone to the United Way system is Volunteers. Approx 140 people voluntarily give a few hours each year to visit local applicant charities on behalf of UWNZ. Their time, skills and recommendations are vital to the efficient, accountable and effective grant making process. Many new volunteers joined the ranks this year. Volunteer training workshops were held throughout January 2009 in Auckland, Manawatu, Tasman, Marlborough, Canterbury, South Canterbury and Otago.
